We are a church on a mission, to see every person faithful and fruitful in Christ.
We're an everyday community following Jesus together in the heart of Camps Bay. We come from all walks of life and every season of faith, and everyone is welcome here exactly as they are. For a hundred years this corner has been a place of worship, welcome and belonging.
Long before Camps Bay became the neighbourhood it is today, a small congregation gathered to pray on the corner of Farquhar Road and Crown Crescent. A century later we are still here, still gathering, and still believing that God meets ordinary people in the middle of an ordinary week.
Generations have been baptised, married and welcomed home in this building. We carry that history gladly, and we are just as excited about the story God is still writing through the people who walk through our doors today.
Sunday school starts under the pine trees.
The Camps Bay Interdenominational Church is formed.
Land is purchased on the corner of Farquhar Road and Crown Crescent.
The Mayor of Cape Town lays the foundation stone.
The building is opened.
The Farquhar Memorial Hall is opened.
We become the Camps Bay United Church, a merger of the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian churches.
The church is modernised and moves into the Farquhar Hall, and the original building becomes the hall.
We celebrate 100 years by renovating and reopening the hall with a fresh vision to serve the community.
You do not need to have it all together to belong here. Wherever you are on the journey, whether you have followed Jesus your whole life or you are exploring faith for the very first time, there is a seat with your name on it. We keep things warm, honest and real, so come as you are, bring your questions, and find a family that will walk with you through every season.
